1.) Keep your work and living space organized.


Organizing your work and living area will greatly enhance your capacity to stay focused and on-track during your busy schedule. This will minimize those time-wasting moments that have you scavenging through endless drawers and cabinets in search of your car keys or notebook, and prevent a build-up of unnecessary stress that is toxic to productivity.

Try not responding to the phone even though it's ringing and e-mails even though they appear in your inbox. Log out of Facebook and shut off instant messaging. Allocate some time for distractions and interruptions. Time management specialists frequently recommend planning for only 50 percent or less of a person's total time. With just 50 percent of your time planned, you should have the versatility to deal with distractions and the unexpected emergency. If you expect to be disturbed, plan mundane tasks while saving greater blocks of time for your main goals. When disrupted, simply ask yourself "What is the most critical thing I can do with my time at this moment?" to ensure you get back on track quickly.



6.) Don't be too much of a perfectionist.


It's true that some things must be nearer to perfect than others, but perfectionism -- specifically, spending a disproportionate amount of time on tiny details -- can lead to procrastination.



7.) Overcome procrastination by scaling down big tasks.


Whenever you are putting off doing something, it could be because it seems overwhelming on first glance. Split it into more palatable pieces and just do one of the lesser tasks, or use a timer and focus on the main task for only 15 minutes. By accomplishing a little at a time, ultimately you'll get to a point where you'll be compelled to finish.

Identify the time of day when you are at your most alert and motivated. Are you a night owl, a morning person or a late afternoon whiz? Discovering when your ideal time is and scheduling that time of day for your main goals is very efficient time management.



9.) Make a to-do list.


Many accomplished people prosper by making daily to-do lists either at the end of the previous day or right off the bat in the morning. 10). Give yourself some extra incentive with rewards.


Celebrate even your modest achievements. Plan to reward yourself somehow for finishing each task, or for completing the whole job. Then keep your word to yourself and savor that reward. If you can keep your efforts at work in harmony with your efforts at play and leisure, your life can be more joyful, more healthy and much more imaginative.
