I was just wondering you are on the site to find friends and some are on the site to find potetial mates. Why would you not post a photo? I like to put a face to a name. When I am on chat I look up both the women and the men read about them and put a face to a name. I just wondered for those who have no photo...why?

Sad to say Girl, but I suspect most of those who don't post a photo are afraid they will be recognized and somebody will tell their 'insignificant other' that they're on a dating site. It's hard to believe anyone with a computer and the ability to navigate to this site would not have a digital photo of themselves somewhere in the system. From my conversations with other women, men who don't post a photo are pretty much ignored as they're probably hiding something. Perhaps they think they need to look like Tom Selleck when mostly we're looking for a smile and the hint of a pleasant personality. Just sayin'...

You might well be right in some cases Dria but I think there are also those who are a little wary of online contact sites and are careful not to reveal too much to strangers. I try to encourage new members to post a photo but many say they will wait until they feel more comfortable about it.

Some may not have a photo to upload, may not have a camera or scanner. There are a few that don't know how to upload images either.

I agree starkit, there are many reasons why people do not post a photo.I didn't know I had a web cam on my lap top, till my grandson told me.

I try to tell everyone that if they cannot post a photo they can mail it to the club and we will load it for them

I am one of those who do not know how to upload, download - or even what these terms mean! Specifically, I was finally able to post a couple of photos in my Gallery, but unable to post a photo on the front page of my Profile, because this photo is too big - and I do not know how to size them down (to medium, as I was told), before sending them to 50Plus!

I like to see the face . I don't care what people look like its whats inside that counts . But its still nice to see a face unless of course you are trying to hide something ??????

I don't have a personal photo posted, but not because I"m afraid of a significant other seeing me...but I am a private person and I don't want the entire world knowing my personal business, where I go, what I do, who I socialize with, where I find socializing, etc. If someone from my work saw my photo here I'd never live it down, and I do believe people should be entitled to some privacy in their lives.

Also, I've been judged way too many times in my life by the way I look and I'm tired of it to be honest. Years ago I was on dating sites, and I had men telling me I "look" too high maintenance for them....without ever making an effort to get to know me, they'd judged me based on nothing but a picture. I've also has the misfortune of someone downloading my pic from a dating site one time a number of years ago and using it on a public blog to make fun of mature women in the dating scene.....those things are very hurtful and I'm sorry fi anyone is offended by me not posting a pic here but I'm just not prepared to take risks like that anymore.

Having said that, if anyone really wants to know what I look like, let me know, I'm more than happy to meet you for coffee face to face and let you get a through look at me and draw your own conclusions.
