At 65 years old. I only got to visit Scotland, for the first time, two years ago. Something I had always wanted to do. The country is so diverse. And, even my first visit to a loch (Lubnaig) was magic. The atmosphere, standing on the shore of a loch, is unique.
The mountains are so beautiful, especially when covered in snow.
Below is the view from my daughters kitchen window, when you are up to your elbows in dishes.

This is where 'The Beast' lives

Loch Ness

A very poignant moment for myself & my children. My (ex) wife, who lived in Scotland, had always wanted to visit Loch Ness. But never got the chance. So, on her first birthday after her passing, we scattered some of her ashes, into the loch.
Infact "Chuck me at Nessie" were her explicit instructions, to us. So we did just that.

Your photos reminded me of the west coast of Canada where I lived for more than 40 yrs.
While Ontario is where I grew up, I will most likely be going back to BC soon. It sounds like your wife had a sense of humour and you must miss her dearly ! I also saw your wildlife photo of the fox...I have many wonderful photos to share as soon as I figure out how to add them here.

I wrote this about a month ago after reading this post and was reluctant to post it.Then I lost track of the post untill I got an email which led me back.I hope it's not inappropriate.
                Nessie

With Nessie I frolic on her waves
Which beats being in a grave,
 For my spirit is free
So her and I shall be
Partners in playful crime,
Liberty  'till there is no time.

What adventures to share,
For neither will fret nor care,
As we visit Neptune
 'neath reflected moon,
 For we are royal heirs
 In our world,not theirs.

Grieve not for my happy soul,
For  time has lost,I am whole,
 Never more to cry
 Nor suffer any lie,
And happy you must be,
 Until you come to me.

What a beautiful poem and what beautiful pictures. It is a reminder that we should do , go and see what we want to before it is to late. I hope I find the courage to do just that.
