Medieval Spain

I'm sketching plans for a solo trip to Medieval Spain in the Fall (their fall - Sept / Oct., not my fall - Mar/Apr). It's my favourite season, the weather is mild and a time of the year when one can get good deals in general. By that I mean the Castilla-Leon region, which includes Burgos, Salamanca and other wonders where monasteries, cathedrals, castles and fortificated towns staged one of the most impacting periods in history. Not sure where I'll start from - will do some research on that and try to follow a logical timeline, but will definitely end the trip at Santiago de Compostela. Ten days in all.

Any tips? Do's are most welcome but Don'ts are even more so!! Thanks!
