Has anyone heard about the new volcano forming just off the coast of the youngest of the Canary Islands? If you are interested you can keep up with the activity of this new submarine volcano by visiting the earthquake-report.com website and following the links to the webcams. If you've ever been to Tenerife or one of the other islands, or intend to go this year,  then perhaps you could add El Hierro to your holiday schedule - it's a fantastic chance to see the birth of a new island and to help support the islanders, who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by this stroppy little volcano.  :D

Hi Pinatar,
I just had to respond to say I really enjoyed the last three words...stroppy little volcano. I do a little bit of creative writing and am a member of the Ennis writers group and the combination of those three words I think is brilliant. I will check out the earrthquake report site and follow the progress of this stroppy little volcano. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Barbantio! Glad you like my stroppy little volcano and how I described it. The latest update is that he has been smoking far too much for his exceedingly young age and causing no end of problems for the Guardia Civil and the scientists trying to second guess his next move. He had Spanish royal visitors yesterday - so no wonder he has been puffing himself up fit to burst. If you do look online you will see him having very hissy fits at the moment and if he carries on like this it won't be long before he blows his top completely. Good luck with the creative writing, you must get a lot of enjoyment from it.  :)

Friends of mine who are divers went to El Hierro about 10 years ago,
said the diving was great there and the island was amazing, that it wasn't
a tourist attraction yet, so it wasn't ruined. They loved it.
