I have 2 keeshonds, Button & Jenni. I bred Button myself, 12 yrs ago, and Jenni is the daughter of another much loved dog who danced his way over the rainbow bridge last summer.
They are very alike in character, but luckily only Button can open the fridge - so far!

Hi, I'm new to 50plus Club and love, love, love animals of all kinds! I have a 20 month old, male German Shepherd Dog, 2 cats from the Humane Society in Cochrane, and a Cockateil that we got from a friend years ago. I'm really into German Shepherds, and have had a couple of them over the years. Unfortunately, one had Degenerative Myelopathy (but she lived until she was 13), my second GSD started having Gran Mal Seizures at the age of 9 months old and we, sadly, had to have him put down. My 3rd German Shepherd now lives with a relative in Calgary, so ... I only have my little boy 'Raines' with me now. I'm hoping all of his tests come out good (hips/elbows, he's already had a DNA for Degenerative Myelopathy and it's CLEAR) and I'd like to find another cute chick for him and raise GSD's in the fairly near future.

Hi - I only joined a couple of weeks ago and have been checking out the site. I love my animals in fact that isn't :D quite right I love all animals and contribute to many animal charities. I myself have a five year old long haired German Shepherd (the last present my late husband bought me) her name is Tizzey and she is very special. I also have a Rough haired Dax named Teddy. He was a rescue dog and he has a wonderful personality and character. I also have a 15 yr old cat and five parrots. My house is very rarely quiet.

I had a beautiful Bichon Friese that got away from me and got hit by a car :-( she was only 7 months old and my heart still hurts. I have made a decision though, I will not get another fur baby until I retire. Our dogs are not just man's best friend they are also ours.

Hi, I also have a Cavalier, Tri colour - Dixie, she is 16 months old and just one little love bug. She is so gentle - but so playful and has lots of funny little ways. I used to have a Yorkie who was just such a good little friend - I had him for 15 years and it broke my heart when I had to make the dicision to let him go and be out of pain! I just get so attached to my pets, same thing with my cats I have had over the years. Everytime I say ' never again ' - but, I end up longing for another little friend, lol - just call me a big softie!!!

Oh you lucky people, I won't get another dog until I retire and it will be a rescue dog, my feeling is that working and living alone is not fair on a dog, Also I'm away abroad a few times a year. My dog Jack was put down in 2009 he was arthritic and it got to the point where whatever a dog's "back end" is, his had gone. He was doubly incontinent at the end and spent the last few weeks on his sofa. He was 15 and I'd had him since he was four months. I still say "Hi Jack" when I walk in, He also sank into a depression in kennels, and they had to sedate him as he scraped off all the fur on his nose.
I look after my friend's bison frische puppy a couple of weeks a year which is lovely. However I long for a dog of my own.

I have two beautiful friends; a collie and a lab. They are my life and are now 7 years old.. my babies.
I found this lovely quote recently and thought I would post it;
They never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation. So true...

I have a 1 year old part Coon Hound and Terrier and she is the love of my life. She has been the best thing to come my way in a long time. I am amazed at how strong the bond is with me and her.

Wow I wasn't that sure about this site, so I thought I would try by leaving my post. I just checked on it, and was very surprised at all the responses I got.  It was actually a very wonderful surprise. I think I will check on here more often.
