5 3/4 cups All Purpose Flour
4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 cups White Sugar
1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
1 cup Shortening
1 cup Margarine

Combine Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda and Salt. Sift of stir thoroughly together. Mix in sugars. Cut in Shortening & Margarine finely (I use a hand mixer to do this part.) Cover tightly in jars or plastic bags. Store in refrigerator or a cool place. Makes about 12 cups. Use within 1 month.

To use this mix, take 2 cups of mix, add 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 cup of something to add flavour or interest, for example: peanut butter; chocolate chips; a square of melted chocolate; or bits of cherries and/or coconut for Christmastime, use enough liquid to form drop dough, adding a few drops of milk if needed. Use 1 tsp dough to make each cookie. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 8 - 10 min. or until a golden colour begins to show. This will make about 2 doz. cookies.
