Being born and raised on the island yes I can say that it is a most beautiful place. I did find that the best time to do the Cabot Trail was Autumn. The Margarie Valley is beautiful in the fall colors.

I glad you enjoyed it...

Hello Northern passion,

I almost bought a 215-acre farm near Whycoming but ended up with a smaller place here in Maine.

I am actually some distance away somewhere around 500 miles (or 800 kilometers) from your area. I live on the east side of the Penobscot River in Bucksport. I am near Bangor.

Been there many times- of course it is not far from where I live (well only 7 hours anyway)! My favorite part is the Ingonish Beach...specifically the Point Cottages right on the ocean....

Hi....I was very happy to see such nice things written about Cape Breton...I have lived on the Island all my life and although I travel often it is always great to come home..
The Cabot Trail is beautifull in Autumn with the trees in their full fall colors...the Margaree Valley...is best described as a scene stolen from Scotland...and the population there is predominatley of Scottish and Gaelic Heritage...
Cape Bretoners or Capers as we are known are some of the most friendly people in the world...
Please come visit us again... :)

Hi to 50 plus members and I live here on the Cabot Trail at Wreck Cove, and obviously I'm bias about our beautiful nature here on Cape Breton Island.
I'll just share a popular thought that people here know about, and I know, that I don't have it exactly right but I think I have the essence of it.
Alexander Graham Bell was sitting on top of Smokey Mountain looking toward Ingonish and the Corson Mansion (Now Keltic Lodge) and he wrote in his diary "I have seen the Himalayas and the Canadian and American Rockies and the Highlands of Scotland, but for quiet gentle beauty, none outrivels the Cape Breton Highlands.
These simple thoughts sum up my feelings about The Cabot Trail perfectly and that is why I chose, what I call, Cape Bretons Nature Coast over any other place on Earth, to live, bring up my family and happily grow older in.
